Nissan’s made Kicks for the Indian automotive market. This Suv Comes with very reliable and responsive chassis and more ground clearance. It looks bold and young. Bright and unique color schemes further add a feel-good factor to this SUV. Nissan’s Kicks will directly compete with segment leader Hyundai Creta. It is based on the same platform as the Micra. It is expected to be launched in early 2019.

Competition is high in the compact SUV category, which will create challenges for Nissan Kicks to compete against another segment king.
However, going by the specs and features, Kicks does come with many engine options and variants. Nissan’s Dealers will soon start accepting bookings of the Kicks from 14th December’2018 as expected. There is no official news on pricing as of yet.This Suv will be offered in two engine options, the 1.5-liter diesel, and a 1.5-liter petrol unit. There is no official word on the number of variants on offer at the moment. We will get more clarity closer to the launch.
Being positioned as a premium compact SUV, Kicks will have various high-end features such as all-leather upholstery, a soft-touch dashboard, dual tone interiors, leather-wrapped steering wheel, semi-digital instrument cluster with MID and analog speedometer and 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto compatibility.
It also has voice recognition with Siri and OK Google. Power sockets are offered in the front as well as at the rear, smart card as a replacement for keyless entry, auto AC, rear armrest, driver seat height adjustable, etc.
Kicks are also likely to receive some first-in-segment features such as Around View Monitor (AVM) with Moving Object Detection. AVM takes inputs from four outside cameras, two at the front and two at the rear, and produces a dynamic, 360° view of the outside environment on the screen. This makes the driver aware of any pedestrians or obstructions that may be there. AVM also sounds an alert if any moving object is detected outside.
It is taller too and expects the ground clearance to be around 200 mm which then qualifies it as a soft-roader. Mind you, in global markets, it is a compact crossover. One might think that Nissan would want to go the subcompact way with the Kicks but that seems highly unlikely. The Kicks that will be launched in India will be based on the B0 platform that spawns the Renault Captur but we wait to know more about what else it shares with the Renault.

Nissan Kicks is expected to have the petrol and diesel engines used in Renault Captur. The 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder petrol engine makes 106 PS @ 5600 rpm and 142 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The engine is mated to either a 5-speed MT or Nissan’s X-Tronic CVT unit. Diesel variant has 1.5-liter K9K dCi diesel engine that makes 110 PS @ 3850 rpm and 240 Nm @ 1750 rpm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed AMT. |

The V-Motion grille and the floating roofline suit the silhouette of the compact crossover. The tail lamps are angular and that adds to the sharp look of the SUV. The plastic cladding on the side brings out the rugged looks of the SUV. This one is 4295 mm long, 1760 mm wide and the wheelbase stands at 2619 mm. Now, these dimensions differ in comparison to the India-specific model. The one coming to India is longer by 84 mm, wider by 53 mm, while the wheelbase has gone up by almost 54 mm, which means there will be more space between the wheels and that also translates into more legroom for the rear passengers. |
