Honda Jazz Facelift Launched: Japan Gets Updated Hatchback First

Honda has revealed the 2027 Jazz facelift (sold as the Fit in Japan) to celebrate the hatchback’s 25th anniversary. The Jazz was first introduced in 2001 and remains a popular small car in several global markets. While Honda discontinued the Jazz in India in 2023, the model continues to receive updates overseas. The latest facelift mainly focuses on styling improvements and feature updates, helping the hatchback stay fresh in a highly competitive segment.

Updated Design and New Features

The facelift does not bring major changes to every variant. The entry-level X trim remains unchanged. However, the mid-spec Z variant now gets a sportier appearance inspired by the top-spec RS model. It features redesigned front and rear bumpers finished in matte black, giving the hatchback a more aggressive look.

The Z trim continues to use 15-inch alloy wheels and does not receive the RS model’s sport-tuned suspension. Inside, Honda has added a new three-spoke leather steering wheel, heated seats, and an acoustic front windshield for improved cabin comfort and reduced noise levels.

The RS variant remains the sportiest version in the lineup. It gets a larger rear spoiler, side skirts, lowered suspension, and a bigger tailpipe. Honda has also slightly updated the finish of the 16-inch alloy wheels. The cabin features a black headliner, suede and leather upholstery, and red stitching for a sportier feel.

Hybrid Powertrain and Pricing

Honda now offers the RS variant exclusively with the e: HEV hybrid powertrain. The rugged-looking Crosstar version is also available only with the hybrid setup. The Crosstar can be equipped with optional four-wheel drive (4WD), making it more capable on rough roads.

The e: HEV system produces a combined output of 121 bhp and 253 Nm of torque. It can also run on electric power for short distances, helping improve fuel efficiency.

In Japan, prices for the 2027 Honda Jazz start at JPY 1,806,200 (around Rs 10.64 lakh). The top-end Crosstar e: HEV 4WD is priced at JPY 2,955,700 (around Rs 17.4 lakh). Honda currently has no plans to bring the Jazz back to the Indian market, making the facelift an international-market update only.

Honda Jazz Not Returning to India

Despite its popularity among hatchback buyers, Honda ended Jazz sales in India in 2023. The company has not announced any plans to reintroduce the model. As a result, Indian buyers are unlikely to see the updated 2027 Jazz in local showrooms. However, the latest facelift shows that Honda is still committed to the Jazz in markets such as Japan, where demand for compact and efficient hatchbacks remains strong.
