Maruti Suzuki has launched the updated 2026 Baleno in India with a starting price of Rs 6.10 lakh, ex-showroom. The premium hatchback gets more than just cosmetic changes, with a new petrol engine, Level 2 ADAS, additional comfort features, and improved fuel efficiency. Here are five important things buyers should know about the new Maruti Baleno.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and an AGS automatic gearbox. The manual version delivers a claimed 23.80 km/l, while the AGS version offers an impressive 24.77 km/l. Maruti claims fuel efficiency has improved by 6.4% and 7.9%, respectively, compared with the previous model.
The Baleno also gets six airbags, ESP, ABS with EBD, Hill Hold Control, reverse parking sensors, Emergency Stop Signal, three-point seatbelts and seatbelt reminders. TPMS is another useful addition.
The dashboard continues to feature a 9-inch SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A Qi-certified wireless smartphone charger with active cooling is also available. Higher variants get a Head-Up Display and 360-degree camera, while Suzuki Connect offers more than 40 connected-car functions.
Other exterior updates include a new chrome fender garnish and shark-fin antenna. The car continues with LED DRLs and is available in seven colour options, including the new Enigmatic Teal.
The Baleno measures 3,990 mm in length, 1,745 mm in width and 1,530 mm in height, with a 2,520 mm wheelbase.
The claimed CNG efficiency stands at 33.61 km/kg, representing a 9.8% improvement over the previous version. The petrol model gets a 37-litre fuel tank, while the CNG version additionally features a 55-litre water-equivalent CNG tank.
1. New 1.2-Litre Z12E Petrol Engine
The biggest mechanical update is the new 1,197cc Z12E petrol engine. This three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine produces 82.93 PS at 5,700 rpm and 112.4 Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm.
