Land Rover has officially announced that production of the Discovery Sport SUV will end in December 2026. The company confirmed that the popular luxury SUV will be discontinued as its Halewood factory in the UK prepares to build the brand’s next-generation models.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport was launched more than a decade ago and became one of the brand’s best-selling models globally. It served as the entry-level SUV in markets like the US, offering a combination of luxury, practicality, and off-road capability.
After production ends, Land Rover will continue selling the Discovery Sport until existing stock is sold out. The company has not revealed a direct replacement for the SUV yet. With the Discovery Sport gone, the Range Rover Evoque will become the cheapest model in Land Rover’s lineup.
The discontinuation is part of Land Rover’s shift towards electrification and new-generation vehicles. The company recently introduced the Range Rover GT, an upcoming electric model based on the new Electrified Modular Architecture (EMA) platform. The platform will support future electric and hybrid vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover.
The upcoming Range Rover GT features a sporty coupe-like design, a low-riding stance, and a modern cabin with digital displays. It represents Land Rover’s changing approach as the brand moves towards premium electric vehicles.
