Hyundai Creta Beats Sierra, Seltos and Victoris in January 2026 Sales

Despite strong competition and several new launches, Hyundai Creta continued to dominate India’s mid-size SUV segment in January 2026. The popular SUV emerged as the highest-selling model in its category, proving its strong market hold even as fresh rivals gain ground.

Hyundai Creta Beats Sierra, Seltos and Victoris in January 2026 Sales

In January 2026, Hyundai Creta recorded total sales of 17,921 units, including the Creta EV. This placed it well ahead of newer competitors such as the Tata Sierra, Maruti Victoris, and the new-generation Kia Seltos. Tata Sierra registered 7,003 units, creating a large gap of 10,918 units between it and the Creta. The Creta also outsold the Maruti Victoris, which sold 15,240 units, and the Kia Seltos, which recorded 10,639 units during the month.

One of the key reasons behind Creta’s strong performance is its established brand value, wide choice of variants, and extensive dealership network across India. While models like the Victoris and Sierra are still in the early phase of their market journey—launched in September and November 2025 respectively—the Creta continues to benefit from years of customer trust and proven reliability.

The new-generation Kia Seltos, launched in December 2025, also showed healthy demand. However, it still remained over 7,000 units behind the Creta in January. Interestingly, the Maruti Victoris crossed 50,000 cumulative sales in January 2026, showing strong customer interest. On the other hand, Sierra’s January sales were only around 10% of its first-day bookings of over 70,000 units, indicating a gradual increase in production and deliveries.

Overall, the mid-size SUV segment saw strong growth in January 2026. Total sales touched 70,898 units, marking a 40% year-on-year growth and nearly 65% month-on-month growth. This surge was mainly driven by new launches and better supply. While newer models are gaining momentum, Hyundai Creta continues to remain the benchmark SUV that rivals are still chasing in one of India’s most competitive segments.
