Tata Motors is moving fast with its electric vehicle plans, and the Tata Sierra EV is the next big name on the list. The electric version of the Sierra has been spotted testing on Indian roads, clearly indicating that its launch is getting closer. Although Tata Motors has not officially revealed complete details yet, spy shots and media reports give us a good idea of what to expect from this upcoming electric SUV.

The Tata Sierra was recently introduced in India with a starting price of Rs 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom). Building on the positive response, Tata is now preparing the Sierra EV, which will focus on clean mobility, modern technology, and improved comfort. The electric Sierra will sit above smaller EVs like the Nexon EV and Curvv EV and below the Harrier EV in Tata’s lineup.
Tata Sierra EV Launch Date (Expected)
The Tata Sierra EV is currently in the testing phase, which usually happens a few months before the official launch. Based on Tata’s past launch timelines and the progress seen so far, the Sierra EV is expected to be launched in India in late 2025 or early 2026. Tata may first reveal the production-ready version at an auto event before opening bookings.Tata Sierra EV Expected Battery and Range
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to share its battery technology with the Harrier EV. It is likely to be offered with two battery pack options – 65 kWh and 75 kWh. These batteries are expected to deliver a real-world driving range of around 450 km to 550 km on a single charge, depending on the variant and driving conditions.Tata may offer both two-wheel-drive (2WD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) versions. However, the power output could be slightly lower than the Harrier EV to improve efficiency and clearly differentiate the two models. The focus will likely be on smooth performance and long range rather than aggressive acceleration.
Tata Sierra EV Expected Price
The Tata Sierra EV is expected to be positioned as a premium mid-size electric SUV. Considering its battery size, independent rear suspension, and advanced features, the expected price range is Rs 18 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom). AWD variants and higher battery options could be priced on the higher side.Key Highlights from Spy Shots
Recent spy images confirm the Sierra EV’s electric nature, as there is no exhaust pipe visible. One of the biggest upgrades is the independent rear suspension, which is rare in this segment. This setup improves ride comfort, stability, and handling, especially on rough Indian roads.Design changes are expected to include a closed front grille, “.ev” badging, and aero-optimised alloy wheels for better efficiency. Inside, the Sierra EV may feature Arcade.ev connected technology, a large touchscreen, digital driver display, and possibly a digital interior rear-view mirror, similar to the Harrier EV.
Overall, the Tata Sierra EV is shaping up to be a well-rounded electric SUV with strong range, premium comfort, and modern features, making it one of the most awaited EV launches in India.
